Derick Fajardo has always had a passion for languages and technology. After pursuing a degree in translation, he began his career in the '90s as an in-house software translator at WordPerfect Corp, helping establish translations for new terms like "right-click" and "save as." After pursuing an MBA, he went on to work for several LSP's like INTL.com and Lionbridge. In a fortunate turn of events, he was able to combine his love for languages, business, and technology when he joined several startups that were pioneering the use of AI in speech recognition in multiple languages. As Director of International Product Development for Nuance Communications, he led teams that worked on the technology behind Siri in 30+ languages. He now leads localization efforts for Harvard Business Review, where he gets to experiment with the latest AI technology to bring the top business management content to the world, in many languages.
