My name is Vanessa Walsh and I'm currently working as a freelance translator and language teacher in Bavaria, Germany. I have an MA in Translation Sciences from the University of Heidelberg in Germany and a BA from Queen's University in Canada in Foreign Languages and Intl. Studies (French/German). I grew up in Ontario, Canada, and English is my mother language. I have many years of immersion in my source languages, years of uninterrupted translation experience, and an excellent command of English, my target language. I specialize in medical translation. Further experience includes literary, academic, website, and business/marketing translation, and I have translated several documents including novels, academic papers, scripts, business plans, and more, from FRA-ENG and DEU-ENG. I also work with technical translations and/or post-editing.

I am a professional translator focusing on medical and scientific translations from German and Spanish to English (both UK and US). Additionally, I am also a professor at a German university teaching English as a Foreign Language to scientific and medical students.

I've been in translations/linguistics since 1997, millions of words, vast experience, a great lot of fields, I've worked for Google, Airbnb, governments (local and states), just name it. I'm fond of languages. I can speak English (of course), French, Russian, some German, Norwegian, Chinese and even Ukrainian. I've studied Icelandic and am familiar with Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Faroese. I lived in Germany for 13 years, working as a translator and teacher of English. Six years ago I returned to live in the UK, and took the DipTrans examination of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (passed with a merit in general translation , a pass in social sciences and a distinction in Business).
