I am an experienced translator in the market research, gaming, tourism and lifestyle fields. I have previously served as a market researcher covering food, drink, lifestyles, trends, technology, and media habits in Brazil. I also have some experience in subtitling, working as a volunteer for TED. I have lived in English speaking countries for over eight years now and I am a native Portuguese speaker. I hold a B.A. in Industrial Design, a Masters in Marketing Analysis, and a Certificate in Language Interpretation and Translation. Lucas Favaretto Tazinafo is a Bachelor of Biomedicine, Specialist in Clinical Analysis, Master of Biosciences and Doctor of Immunology and Pathophysiology by the University of São Paulo (USP). He is currently working as a translator, uniting his passion for the English language with science. In his free time, he is an enthusiast of video games and tabletop games, like RPG and collectable card games.

I've been working as a freelance translator since October 2019. Since then, I translated more than 250 thousand words, and proofread/revised more than 85 thousand words, both from English and Russian to Brazilian Portuguese. Games are my main field of expertise, and I am experienced with online games (adventure; hidden objects; casino/betting games). Also, I performed many jobs in the field of marketing (CPA, Affiliate Network), websites and mobile apps. My experience as a translator ranges from technical documents to entertainment texts. I am a Law Bachelor and I have worked as a tax advisor, writing and proofreading documents in both English and Portuguese as daily jobs. I worked also on the Brazilian localization of EA’s FIFA 18 and Need for Speed Payback. My job was to ensure all texts and audio were properly translated for the Brazilian market, checking if these assets were correctly implemented in-game and that they fitted the game style and natural flow of the language. Such experience lit my desire of building bridges between different cultures and breaking down the language barriers between them. In my case, Portuguese is spoken by more than 255 million people, of which 210 million are Brazilians alone. However, the majority of the lusophone population has no understanding of the English language, and English speakers too have generally no knowledge of Portuguese. This is an obstacle I want to help undo.

I have been translating technical, business and private contents from English to Portuguese for more than 10 years. Throughout this time, I have translated and proofread documents such as, hospital equipment catalog, questionnaire, medical forms, surveys, restaurant menus, letters, product list, prenuptial agreement, nautical manual, children and adult apps, casino games, real state software among other documents. Besides my current position as a freelance Translator, I have some experience in Subtitling, considering rules of synchronization and how to use subtitling software. I can also act as a Transcriptionist, understanding basic rules of verbatim and true verbatim transcription.

I have been a freelance Professional Translator since 2013, specializing in Business, Marketing and Social Sciences. However, I have also performed successful translations in many other different fields, such as website and app contents, legal contracts, technical manuals, automotive systems, coaching materials, among others. I am very detail and quality oriented. Before that, I was an Administrative Assistant for over 5 years. I translated some website articles as a volunteer (since 2010) and I worked for an import/export company where I was responsible for all external communications (English/Spanish). I use SDL Trados 2011, but I always check my translations, sentence by sentence, for grammar, meaning and vocabulary use - no automatic translations!
